Weekly Update 10-6-2020

Good afternoon Monarchs,

It’s always a pleasure to serve the Rancho Campana community.  Though all updates are important, please take a moment to view the following important updates:

Return to School Plan:  As stated by Superintendent McCoy, Ventura County has transitioned from the purple widespread tier to the red substantial tier.  Now that has occurred, Ventura County schools will begin the process for reopening.  OUHSD will examine what a return to school will look like and how we can safely bring students back to campus.  The likelihood of any in-person instruction before the end of trimester one is extremely low.  However, if we are able, we will have a plan and communicate before trimester two begins. Any return will be in a completely voluntary hybrid model, students and staff would have the ability to opt out. I will continue to relay information as I receive it.

Covitality Survey:  Our school is interested in the behavioral and emotional health of our students. This year, Rancho Campana will be participating in a brief universal screening survey for measuring behavioral and emotional strengths in adolescents during first period, on October 15th. All students who agree to participate will complete a short survey online. This survey has been approved by Oxnard Union High School District in collaboration with researchers from the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB).

Your child does not have to participate. Participation in the survey is voluntary and opting out will not impact your child’s academic status or access to support at school. Prior to taking the survey, all students will be informed that participation is voluntary and that opting out will in no way impact their standing at school. All information collected will be kept confidential. If you would like to opt out, please fill out this link.

Peer Resource Virtual Tutoring Groups:  Peer Resource has started an amazing new program for our students.   They will be tutoring students following the schedule on the attached flyer.  There are social rooms, technology support chats and subject area tutoring available.  Thank you to our Peer Resource group and Ms. Huizinga for organizing this.

Campus Protocols:  The RCHS office is still open Monday through Thursday from nine to two.  We are asking every individual that enters campus to check in at the station in front of our newly renovated lobby. You will be asked to sign in, fill out a COVID questionnaire through a QR code and to document your temperature.  State mandates continue to be in place requiring everybody on campus to wear a mask. Thank you for helping us to do our part to keep everybody safe.

Monarch Pictures Available for Pickup:   If you ordered pictures from Monarch photography during our Back to Business Days they are available for pick up during our office hours.

Mr. Martin’s Virtual Town Hall:  I will be holding my biweekly virtual town hall tomorrow, at 5:00 PM.   Here is the link for the Meet, I hope to see you there!

Measure A Update:  The office lobby security enhancements are completed, relocateable classrooms for construction staging has been provided, additional security shades and tinting for all windows is complete, HVAC modernization is under construction and site utilities such as power, gas and fire alarm are reviewed with HVAC modernization

It’s a pleasure to serve the Rancho Campana Community!!! #Train2Reign
