Good Afternoon Monarchs!!!
As we move into the Red Tier we will have the opportunity to invite students back to campus. Please review the information below relating to our return:
Office Hours Changing: The Red Tier office hours will extend. Effective March 22nd, the RCHS office will be open from 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Thursday. Friday the office will be open from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
RCHS Opening to Students March 24: Trimester three begins next week on Tuesday, March 16th. The first week of school will be solely distance learning. All students will be assigned one day of the week to attend in-person instruction. Your student’s assigned day can be found in their schedule as a period 11.
We are strictly adhering to VCPH guidelines and will not initially be able to accommodate more students than assigned on any given day. Students cannot change their attendance day because of this.
Voluntary Return for Students and Teachers: The return to school is voluntary for students and teachers. Not all teachers will be on campus and not all classes will have in-person instruction. Students that return to campus without an available teacher will be assigned a pod and will be monitored by an adult. Students with a teacher on campus will go to their in-person classes then return to their pods. RCHS will be sending the complete list of teachers providing in-person instruction next week. The list will be updated as more teachers return to campus. Students that choose not to return to campus will continue their distance learning with their teachers the same as they were before at home with no penalty. Students should bring headphones to participate in class while being in a pod. RCHS will provide headphones to those who do not have them.
Student Protocols: RCHS will have two entrances into school with full screening in place, the lobby and the Performing Arts Center. Students will need to bring their school ID, fill out the passive screening questionnaire (emailed to students each night before school) and pass through the temperature monitoring station. ALLOW TIME TO ENTER CAMPUS. It will take longer to get onto campus, please take that into consideration when planning an arrival time. You will save time by filling out the prescreening email before coming to campus and bringing an ID everyday to be scanned.
Students will exit from two locations, the PE field gate and the gate near the Scene Shop/PAC. Please see the attached map for more details.
If your student is planning to return to school, they will be required to be on campus all day, from 9:00 AM – 2:54 PM. They will only be able to leave early with parent permission. Students with first or fifth period dismissals may still come during first or leave after fourth period.
Masks will be required at all times. A student may ask their designated pod adult for a break outside without their mask, but they will be required to wear their mask at all times otherwise. Masks can be removed to eat outdoors. OUHSD food services will offer an 8:15 AM breakfast and 12:15 PM lunch for those interested.
The Daily Schedule Will Change Effective March 16th: To support the hybrid return to learning, the RCHS daily schedule will change to a daily period one through five schedule. The school day will begin at 9:00 AM and will end at 2:54 PM. The schedule will be:
|Period 1||9:00 am – 9:57 am|
|Period 2||10:05 am – 11:02 am|
|Period 3||11:17 am – 12:14 pm|
|Lunch||12:14 pm – 12:44 pm|
|Period 4||12:52 pm – 1:49 pm|
|Period 5||1:57 pm – 2:54 pm|
RCHS will Provide Bi-Monthly COVID Testing: RCHS is working to schedule testing every other week on campus. Once the details are finalized our students and staff will be provided no cost COVID testing. The COVID testing schedule will be sent on Parent Square and be on the website once it is finalized.
Principal’s Townhall: This week I will hold an additional townhall to help answer the community’s questions about the return to school. It will be on Wednesday at 5:00 PM via Google Meet. If you are interested in attending the code is meet.google.com/mid-ncbo-zrw
We understand that returning to school is a personal decision and every family will have to weigh the pros and cons. At RCHS, we will work diligently to provide the safest environment possible. We will maintain all VCPH and CDC guidelines and as the guidance shifts, we will adjust appropriately.
Please stay safe Monarchs. It’s a pleasure to serve the Rancho Campana Community!!! #Train2Reign
