Weekly Update 4-22-2021

Good Afternoon Monarchs!!!

The landscape has changed significantly as the public health situations have improved.  It appears we are going to be able to host more in-person events.  Please continue to monitor my weekly updates as we solidify plans for end of year activities including prom and graduation.

Voluntary Return for Students:  The return to school is voluntary for students and most teachers will be returning to campus on Monday, April 26th.  Some teachers have applied for and received exemptions from the district, their students have been notified.  Students that return to campus without an available teacher will be in a pod and will be monitored by an adult.  Students with a teacher on campus will go to their in-person classes.   Students should bring headphones to participate in class. RCHS will provide headphones to those who do not have them.

Student Protocols:  RCHS will have two entrances into school with full screening in place, the lobby and the Performing Arts Center.  Students will need to bring their school ID, fill out the passive screening questionnaire (emailed to students each night before school) and pass through the temperature monitoring station.  ALLOW TIME TO ENTER CAMPUS.  It will take longer to get onto campus, please take that into consideration when planning an arrival time.  You will save time by filling out the prescreening email before coming to campus and bringing an ID every day to be scanned.

Students will exit from two locations, the PE field gate and the gate near the Scene Shop/PAC.  Please see the attached map for more details.

If your student is planning to return to school, they will be required to be on campus all day, from 9:00 AM – 2:54 PM.  They will only be able to leave early with parent permission.  Students with first or fifth period dismissals may still come during first or leave after fourth period.

Masks will be required at all times.   A student may ask their teacher for a break outside without their mask, but they will be required to wear their mask at all times otherwise.  Masks can be removed to eat outdoors.  During lunch, students will be asked to sit in designated areas with two students per table.   Students that do not comply with the social distancing guidelines will be assigned to eat lunch in a pod.

OUHSD food services will offer breakfast and lunch for those interested every morning before school.

Principal’s Townhall:   This week I will hold my bi-monthly townhall to help answer any questions the community may have.  It will be on Wednesday at 5:00 PM via Google Meet.  If you are interested in attending the code is

AP Test Update

For Students Testing on Campus: Since we have a lot of construction and more teachers/students returning to campus, we are looking into testing off campus so that you have a quiet and spacious space to test at Trinity Church. Once this is confirmed, I will let you know. This would apply for Monday through Thursday In Person paper/pencil exams. We will accommodate Friday examinations at RCHS.

For Students Testing Digitally at Home: It is really important that this week you work on uploading the application that is needed for testing at home on the computer where you plan on testing: If you run into issues, please come by campus next week to get IT help with uploading to your school laptop, Monday through Thursday before 2pm or Friday before 12pm. We want to make sure that you are all set since it needs to be done well before testing so that you could practice and make sure you are all set for your digital exams. Please visit this webpage for detailed instructions on all 4 steps below:

We understand that returning to school is a personal decision and every family will have to weigh the pros and cons.  At RCHS, we will work diligently to provide the safest environment possible.   We will maintain all VCPH and CDC guidelines and as the guidance shifts, we will adjust appropriately.

Please stay safe Monarchs.  It’s a pleasure to serve the Rancho Campana Community!!! #Train2Reign
