Weekly Update 1-10-2022

Principal’s Update 1/10

Good Afternoon Monarchs,

Welcome back.  I hope everybody had a restful weekend and is ready to tackle the week.

I understand there is a lot in the news right now involving COVID-19.  As of now there are NO plans to close campus and go to distance learning.  There are significantly more absences than normal but the attendance and nurse’s office have been working diligently to be sure every student that returns to campus is doing so safely.

Here are this week’s updates:

COVID Protocols and Updates:  With the increase in positivity rate and exposure in Ventura County it is prudent to remind everybody of the COVID protocols for different scenarios:

If a student tests positive – If an RCHS student tests positive they must quarantine for ten days from symptom onset.  A student can return to campus after ten days if they have no fever for over 24 hours without the aid of fever-reducing medication and if the symptoms are waning.  Please report the COVID positive absence to our attendance clerk Sandy Scheinert at or call (805) 394-4754.

*UPDATED* a student may return after five days with a negative test and if all other requirements are met.

If a student has symptoms above baseline – If a student is experiencing any symptoms above baseline they must stay home until they provide the school with a negative COVID test. Again, please report this to our attendance clerk Ms. Scheinert.

Students not at school can check the Google Classroom or Canvas for most assignments.

When a student returns with a negative COVID test please have it printed and bring it to the nurse’s office.

RCHS will inform individuals that have been exposed at school via email and explain quarantine procedures.

These protocols and the student decision tree (attached) will be posted and updated here

At-Home COVID Tests for Students:  Tomorrow, Tuesday 1/11 RCHS will distribute home test kits during tutorial.  These test kits are an important tool to keep our students in school safely. Families are encouraged to use these test kits as a first resource should a student begin to experience COVID symptoms or be exposed to COVID. The tests are intended to be used by our students within the next month.

Test Kit Information:

  • The kit provides 2 antigen tests.
  • The test will return results in minutes.
  • The test can be used for the following purposes:
  1. Students who are having symptoms of COVID
  2. Students who are asymptomatic but were identified as a close contact to a COVID positive person at school
  3. Students with symptoms requiring a negative test to return.

Updated Testing Schedule:  RCHS will provide COVID testing at least twice per week.  Testing will now be available Monday and Wednesday mornings, from 7:30 AM to 9:30 AM.   RCHS is working on adding one more testing day for Fridays, 7:30 AM to 9:30 AM.  An email confirmation will be sent if this occurs.  Please use the Test Request From attached below.

Principal’s Office Hours:  I will be holding a virtual office hours at 5:00 PM, Wednesday January 12th.  Please join the Google Meet with this code:

Thank you everybody for all you do to make RCHS great.  I am proud to be a part of the Rancho Campana Community. Please stay safe!
