The goal of the Academy of Health Sciences is to prepare students for college and careers, while letting students explore their career interests. There is a vital need for future medical professionals and the  Academy of Health Sciences creates a pathway to promote this STEM field. There are two pathways within the Academy of Health Sciences: patient care and mental health

The health sciences staff has created opportunities for students to explore various health disciplines through academy curriculum, projects, work site tours, guest speakers,  job shadow opportunities, opportunities with our business partners, and internships. These work-based learning events on campus help students gain critical career knowledge.  

In addition to the student’s high school course work, students take health electives and complete work-based learning events. Students must complete course work and work-based learning events to complete the Academy of Health Sciences Graduation Requirements. 

Health Science Courses- 3 years required, passed with a C or better

• Patient Care Essentials or Mental Health CTE
• Advanced Patient Care or Mind Matters
• Third year options: Anatomy and Physiology, AP Biology, AP Chemistry, Cognitive Neuroscience, US History of Public Health, Overview of Addiction a dual enrollemnt course, Pharmacology of Drugs and Addiction a dual enrollment course

Work site Tours-
