The English Department at Rancho Campana offers a comprehensive four-year program of study in English Language Arts, with all classes meeting the standards of the “B” requirement for A-G eligibility. All English courses focus on the four-strands of the California Common Core standards in Listening & Speaking, Reading, Writing, and Language Conventions. Students are exposed to a wide range of literature including modern, classical, multicultural and informational texts. Courses are offered in college prep or honors level English during the freshmen and sophomore years. AP Language & Composition and AP English Literature are offered on a rotating basis from year to year for juniors and seniors, along with a college prep option for each of those years, as well. It is the goal of the English department to prepare every student to be successful in reading and writing at a college level by the end of senior year.
