Distance Learning-Student Daily Attendance Instructions

Student Daily Attendance – Instructions

While school is through distance learning, students will have to check in to their assigned courses every day. Students will have to note whether their class period is linked to Canvas or Google Classroom. Since Canvas is linked to our student information system (Synergy), those classes will not require a check in, but any other system, such as Google Classroom, will require students to log in for that period and check themselves in for attendance purposes.

RCHS is currently on a block schedule, so students will note which courses they are scheduled into for each day. If any of their classes are being held in Google Classroom, they will make a note of it and log on to report attendance. For Google Classroom periods only, students will:

  1. Sign in to their OUHSD Google Account.
  2. Follow this link:  http://bit.ly/RCHS-checkin
  3. Complete and submit the form every day and include:

– Student ID

– Period

– Teacher

Please note that we are on a block schedule and students should only log on for attendance on the days that they have a Google Classroom period. For example, if a student only has Google Classroom for Period 1, then they would only have to use the link on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays to report attendance with that period/teacher. For the rest they would make sure to sign-in to their classroom Canvas courses as assigned on their course schedule.

Synchronous meetings with teachers mean that their teacher is doing a live class, at the time the period is offered. Asynchronous meetings mean students are working independently, without a live meeting on days when the teacher may assign an independent (Asynch) day for class. The first 3 weeks of instruction will all be fully Synchronous, and after that teachers may assign Asynch learning instead of Synch learning once or twice a week. On Synch days, even when teachers take their own attendance in class, students will still have to either log on to their Canvas class, or log in to the Google Classroom attendance link. If a student cannot make a live Synch meeting, they should still connect with their teacher, and sign on (to Canvas or Google attendance link) to avoid being marked absent for that period.

Please note that even during distance learning daily attendance reporting is required. Truancy letters will continue to go out as before for Excused and Unexcused Absences. Continue to submit any Doctor notes to our attendance clerk, scan and email to Sandra Scheinert at Sandra.scheinert@oxnardunion.org.
